In my experience he will loose more than train and will end with full stack of low tier trash. Last time i created a separate party for my companion he procceded to wreck his face in 5 mins time. There goes my semi elite 80 army i gave him and all i got in return was plus 1 relation with some random merchant.
Why the game doesn't really handle a lot of companions well. Mainly, the skill/perk system is a huge drag to allocate with so many companions. The "C" Character menu has terrible performance scaling. With 75 companions, it was taking 5 seconds to load. Doing this after every battle was annoying. The menu itself is also terribly designed.updated Apr 13, 2020.
